I have attempted blogging over the years.  I have tried blogging about family, theology, society, and many other things.  But I took a break from trying to blog and make social media posts about anything to do with society, politics, and theology around 2015/16.  Something was changing in our culture, or at least becoming more prevalent, especially in the Christian circles I tend to run in, and I was growing frustrated.  I was a new pastor in 2015, and so I had plenty of others things I could focus on.

I have now been a pastor for almost a decade (June 27, 2025).  I have learned a little, experienced a lot, and grown through it all.  And so I think now is the perfect time to get back into writing.  I enjoy writing, occasionally.  Also, I am enrolled in a new doctoral program that begins in the fall, so this may become a good spot to practice my writing skills.

My goal with this blog is to speak to people who believe in God as their Lord and Savior but who struggle with how to live in this world, especially our ever changing American culture.  I want to provide perspective and hope to people who sometimes feel hopeless.  I want to speak on a variety of topics, like:

  • mental health and faith
  • loving God and loving your neighbor
  • bearing your cross
  • interacting with our American culture
  • and whole host of other things.

Some people might not find this blog to be interesting or worthwhile.  And that’s ok.  This blog is not for everyone.  But if you find something helpful in what I write, please comment or send me an email letting me know.  If you find something that you do not agree with in what I write, I invite you to comment also.  We can have conversations with people we do not agree with.  Its ok to do that, it even makes you a little counter-cultural.

Welcome to this journey with the world’s okayest pastor.

About The Worlds Okaeyst Pastor Name

I can be very self-deprecating.  I firmly believe that if you somehow could rank all pastors in this world, I would fall somewhere in the middle, hopefully.  I know I am not the best pastor, but I also do not believe that I am the worst pastor ever.  Instead, I am ok as a pastor.  But I am always trying to learn and improve.  Someone at my school in Leesburg got me a coffee mug with “Worlds Okaeyst Pastor” on it.  I use it most every Sunday morning.  Someone else at my school vandalized my car by putting a sticker with the same phrase on the back window.  So I have embraced it, even claiming it on Facebook and Instagram.
